Huge price cut on steam. Yay.

Just started and I'm surprised actually that I'm enjoying it. obviously buggy but with enough coolness to bring me away from that. I just got passed the block under the bridge. Any tips from experienced stalkers?

Its an average game story wise, but really bugged and crap game play wise.

Also there are 13 endings, 12 of which are fake.

You got fucking scalded by it, I recall. Just whack the AI off and take that Chernobyl tour you've always dreamed of.

It's too hard, and, like many a single player game, I got bored of it.

The graphics are also poor considering its release date.

Alan, you fail to take into account it had more delays than Tony Blair's resignation.

But I'm stubborn like that, me.

And it's Ukranian or some such, so coming from a non-country it really already had one foot in the shit.

Concidering how long I was waiting for that game (since 2001) I was hugely disappointed when I finally got to play it. I wasnt expecting everything that was promised as they were definately over-reaching but the bugs and the poor graphics killed this game for me.

I was playing on a dual core with an 8800 GTS graphics card as well but some of the texturing (thinking specifically of some of the anomaly effects) were simply terrible.

It had bags of potential and I still think its salvagable but I think we are going to have to wait until Clear Sky to see the game it was truley meant to be.

It's dissapointing compared to early playtests by various magazines, certainly (I'm looking at PCZONE), but it's still an immense game. I'm enjoying it alot. Graphics mean fuck all, tbh. They're nice but if the game's great it doesn't matter (I'm currently playing Psychonauts for the first time, natch).

If it was just the shoddy graphics I wouldnt mind. But the game cant seem to make up its mind whether its an FPS or an RPG. It falls in the middle and doesnt really do either justice.

The inventory screens, map and quest management are all woefull!

And then there are the hiddiously underpowered weapons until much later in the game. It simply sucks all the realism out for me.

Also it got so repetitive, same scenary, same people, same textures, there was very little variety. For something that was supposed to be so freeform, it began to feel very linear.
