The wingback is fast becoming a specialist position. If you look around Europe, pretty much the only specialist wingbacks are South American, mainly Brazilian. For your typical wingback, look no further than Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Dani Alves, Maicon and Marcelo. Brazil is home to some of the best potential wingbacks in the world. Lets take a look at them.
I'll be showing you a screenshot of some 16 players from the beginning of the game and then, where possible, the same 16 players in January 2015. Lets start with the best: Diego Renan - Cruzeiro December 2008: January 2015: --- Jonathan* - Cruzeiro December 2008: January 2015: --- Raul - Atletico Paranaense December 2008: January 2015: --- Gabriel - Botafogo December 2008: January 2015: --- Joao Paulo - Fluminense December 2008: January 2015: --- Eduardo Ratinho - Corinthians December 2008: January 2015: --- Douglas - Goias December 2008: January 2015: --- Dieguinho - Fluminense December 2008: January 2015: --- Jorbison - Flamengo December 2008: January 2015: --- Rafael Galhardo - Flamengo December 2008: January 2015: --- Jefferson - Palmeiras December 2008: January 2015: --- Marcio Azevedo - Atletico Paranaense December 2008: January 2015: --- Dodo* - Corinthians December 2008: January 2015: --- Gil - Cruzeiro December 2008: January 2015: --- Vinicius - Sergipe December 2008: January 2015: --- Para - Vasco December 2008: January 2015: --- It wasn't until halfway through that I realised how young some of these players still were, so they can develop further. Diego Renan and Dodo were, predictably, the ones who have improved the most. I was suprised to see some players that I thought were going to be quite good, had actually regressed. These players have not had any human control and have been completely AI trained. *'s indicate that the player is an EU-National.

Thanks, SD. Dodo looks impressive, doesn't he? I'd heard about him briefly before, but I'm now trying to butter him up in my current game. Corinthians want £8m for him, though.

Is this the same Dodo who was linked with Manchester United in the summer/signed a pre-contract with them? I thought he was a DC but I'm sure he was from Corinthian's so it may be this same guy.
Regardless, good work on the lists Nick. This suits Brazil more as they have more wingbacks than they do goalkeepers, can't wait to see how you narrow down players for positions such as AMR/AML/ST when the time comes. While the goalkeeper list may not have provided amazing players, it gave us some good goalkeepers at affordable prices. This position is more suited to Brazil so the players are of a better standard, I manage Athletic Bilbao so can't sign any of them anyways but your hard work is appreciated. Keep it up, it's a credit to the Dugout with hard work like this going on.

Surprisingly how many players are still in Brazil and haven't moved to Europe. Some are even still at the same club they started.
Dodo looks great. |

![]() Good list though, Galhardo and Jorbison fully deserve their place on there - they're both performing excellent for my Flamengo side in the place of more experienced team mates. |

![]() I would like everyone to know that Galhardo and Jorbison were mentioned by Bulfin in the South American football thread. It was from his recommendation that I added them to this list. I would never have added them, were it not for his input. You'll probably get him for loads cheaper than that, Corinthians are my rivals, so they'll make me pay top whack. --- Thank you to everyone, though. Next up will be centrebacks.

No chance, Nick. Already been given the frighteners once by them. I think he's going to cost me top dollar.

Dodo and Diego Renan are definitely the best ones. In my current game Dodo is at Barcelona, wonderkid as he's still 20yo, bought for €20,5m. Diego Renan was bought by Inter for €15,25m.
I would recommend João Paulo as a good option for the left back position. He's one of the most consistent performers in my Fluminense side and his free kicks help too. Dieguinho doesn't really do it for me, I loaned him out to Corinthians now. |
