Idiots Guide to Installing New Update and Tampani's Patch?

So for all the dimwits like me, can someone please clearly state what is needed to run the new update and the patch made by Tapani??

1. Install CM0102.
2. Patch the game to version 3.9.68
3. Download the latest version of Tapani's patch
4. Copy the "cm0102.exe" file that is located in the folder you installed CM0102 in, and paste it in a folder called "backup"
5. Run the patch.
6. Download the latest update from Helvete, which will be available soon.
7. Copy your "Data" folder that is located in the folder you installed CM0102 in, and paste in the same folder you copied "cm0102.exe" to.
8. Extract or copy the files from the patch to your "Data" folder. When it asks you to overwrite, click "yes to all"
9. Ask Helvete if he has edited the players ages or not
10a. If so, use the program that came with the patch from Tapani to update the contracts (add 4 years).
10b. If not, use the program that came with the patch from Tapani to update the contracts (add 4 years) and youngen the players (4 years).
11. Open "player_setup.cfg" which is located in the data folder, using Wordpad. Search and replace 2001 with 2005, 2002 with 2006 and 2003 with 2007.
12. Play!

If someone finds a mistake, please say so

I don't have cm01/02.exe. I have something called cm01/02.exe-17CO99D4.pf instead, ive already got an update installed so should i take the whole game off my computer and start again?

Also how do u open the patcher and should it be bigger than 42kb?

Also this backup folder do i need to create it? If not specifically where is it?

What operating system are you on?

I think you should re-install the game and follow the instructions again!

you create the back up folder, name it "back up" or something.
open the patcher by double clicking it.
cm0102.exe should be on your Championship Manager 01/02 folder, in the main folder. make a copy of that to back it up, and run the patcher, by double clicking it.
find the cm0102.exe that you will use in the game, the one in the main folder, and ask the patcher to patch it.

Do i need winrar to open it because its a rar file and ive clicked on it and nothing seems to happen nothing opens up
But yeah im going to reinstall the game and go from there

ok ive looked on the folder of cm01/02 and it does say that theres a file called cm01/02.exe what does it look like is it the football shapped one?

You forgot the loans ;-)

After all the steps der Weiß described you should edit the file player_setup.cfg located in the Data directory. You can use Notepad, but using Wordpad will be faster.

Search and replace 2001 with 2005, 2002 with 2006 and 2003 with 2007. You want to do an "Replace All" since those occur quite a few times in there.

I had problems patching the other night. I did the followign to reolve the problem:

Unstalled CM01/02
Re-installed CM 01/02
Updated to 3.9.68 Patch
Installed Helevete (Beta) Update (open zip file and extract data to the Data folder.
Create folder called patch. Open Tapani's zip file (CM Patcher 2.13B2) and extract files to this directory.
Then run Tapani's Patch (have to select cm0102.exe)
Then run Tapanis staff adjuster (need to select Staff.dat file in DATA directory) and set to 4 years young (number is positive).
Then open player_setup config file (opens in notepad) and adjust dates using the replace function (2001 = 2005; 2002 = 2006; 2003 = 2007). Save and close file.
Previous saved games may not work with the new patch or data. Suggest you try starting new game

Use the 2.13B2 patch. I had problems with the programme when I patch over patch, but none when patched using the 2.13B2 only to the orginal 3.9.68.

Tapani is not an update it is a patch as it alters how the game works (e.g., has changed the programme code). Some reported problems, which Tapani is resolving. Suggest you try and see if it works.
Helvete's update is the one with correct current squads (due out later today

). No reported problems with this (so far......)

Read the thread for the answers on the Tapani's patch. Use the correct version of the game (3.9.68) for the patch (2.13B2) to work.

You should NOT patch over patch! This will most likely crash! The patches are against the original version.

About resolving crashes, I have no idea why it crashes for some. It works like charm for me on the few computers I have had opportunity trying it on. And, if I cannot get it to crash, I just can't see a way of fixing it.

I can see from my logs that the patch has been downloaded about 600 times, and only a handful of people are complaining...

Surprisingly, there are people who are to much of an idiot to even understand that they DO NOT just dump everything they download in the data folder. And I'm not going to tell you how to do it. Stupid questions receive stupid answers.
