My old form teacher's godson.

The silence when Berg missed after Milner had skied his was golden

I've only been reading this off websites, but apparently he scored a penalty, then got yellow carded or something?

Firstly, how common is it for goalkeepers to take penalties?

Secondly, how was he yellow carded during the penalty shootout?

Forgive my newbish-ness.

He sort of stood a couple of yards off the goalline waving his arms frantically against the Swedish player walking up to take the penalty, a bit like Gary in Team America.

He then had the nerve to appeal against the decision because he "didn't actually SAY anything"

I think it's becoming more common, because basically they can kick it hard. And he'd just saved one, so you'd imagine he must have been feeling pretty good.

He was yellow carded for coming off his line I think, but it looked like the player hadn't even put the ball down.

Seeing as Pearce has them practising shootouts, I wonder if Hart was instructed in those methods?

The U21 championship semi-final in which England beat Sweden on penalties after Sweden came back from 3-0 down.

EDIT: aimed at Mert.

Some do, they practice regularly in training with other keeprs for shot stopping, so can get good.

He was booked for leaving his line/try to put off the striker... unsporting conduct. It's a harsh yellow really.

Hart was heard on the mic screaming at the penalty taker in a group match (who scored), I guess he was doing the same. It was pretty funny.

It wasn't harsh you fuckhead. He should have had a straight red and a 7 match ban for that.

I was listening to a post match press conference from Pearce and he was talking about Joe Hart, and how commendable it was that despite knowing he was going to miss the final, still managed to care enough to help win the penalty shoot out for England.

I mean seriously, what the fuck? Did Pearce just expect Hart to think 'oh i won't be playing in the final, i don't give a shit anymore' and just not bother trying to save any penalties?

I know it's only quite a minor thing, but it irked me listening to Pearce saying these things, making it sound like Hart was some kind of hero just because he knew he wouldn't be playing.

Anyone with me?

Not really. Look at his face after he gets booked - he knows full well that he's out of the final. It's really difficult to focus after something like that, especially for someone who's about 21 or whatever, and he did.

That's not what i meant though.

Pearce seemed to be insinuating that it was great of Hart to actually care after he got booked, almost like he thought that Hart just wouldn't give a shit any more once he knew he wouldn't be playing.

So we've got no strikers for the Final and our second choice keeper. This will probably make the game more entertaining rather than the England destruction of Germany that would have happened.

Fair play to the lad. Other countries have been at this for a long long time, so it's about time we gave it a bit.

The Swedish crowd yesterday reminded me of some northern shithole, moaning about every little thing.

No, I don't.

My interest was raised last night for obvious reasons and as a result I considered watching Monday's final.

I'd be honest, not since this years competition.

But I've watched a few games and have enjoyed it, good to see a few players that will hopefully become good in the years to come, although they rarely make the step up from U21 level.

It also helps that England keep winning.

Exactly what I was thinking, he had to score.

Pearce obviously knew what he was doing, but it was a great penalty from Hart in the end.

He was warned once already for his cuntishness on the first penalty, so I feel the yellow may have been justified.

If I cared about our U-21's I would have watched their matches before now, I haven't even watched a minute of one of them.

As a result it'd feel hollow celebrating their victory if they do it.

That's all.

That's all.
You don't have to celebrate but if you feel like watching it, do so. Who's going to know or care ?

We should pay more attention to the under 21s, and I'm convinced that our general treating of it as a glorified friendly is what makes our senior players such utter goons when it comes to major tournaments.

Ah I see.

Maybe I should have said I don't have Sky, so if I want to watch it I'd have to go the pub, which would be full of cheering England fans and I'd obviously want them to win.

It'd just be odd.

No, I've left it too late and that's that.

Well it's not, as most of our senior players barely touched the U-21's, but I agree we should take it more seriously. And if we did, I guess more of them would have been a part of it.

Yeah, my days of fucking around with internet streams that pause, jump, skip, hop, or just don't work at all, are long gone.

I'd rather try and take a wall down with a paper clip.

Yeah I do, I follow he full England side.

Even when that means watching them with no Rooney in a meaningless secod haf in Kazakhstan.

I don't know why you're all struggling with the gist of my point. I do hope that mass lobotomy hasn't struck again.

In what sense?

I thought we were shit pre Capello (we were), I thought the team was full of cunts pre Capello (it was and still is), but I wouldn't say I've ever been anti-England.
