Default World Super League Database

I have spent this afternoon creating a World Super League in the editor. It is (very loosely) based on the English league system.

Information:
  • There are 10 playable tiers. That's 226 teams to choose from.
  • You have a national cup to play.
  • A league cup.
  • A lower league cup.
  • A supercup. (for the national cup winners and Premier winners)
  • Each league has been ordered by team reputation in the editor.
  • Competitions have their reputation individually set. The Premier is 20, then 19, 18, etc.
  • The Champions League and other European and World competitions have had their reputations reduced.
  • International competitions are exactly the same.
  • Finances, facilities and staff are exactly the same.
  • There is no reserve or under 18 leagues. This was done (somewhat) deliberately. For youth players to progress, they'll have to loaned out or played.
  • There are no player restrictions.
  • 4 teams are relegated and promoted from each division. 3 automatic places and a playoff.
  • In the 10th tier, no side is relegated. They just finished last.
  • There is NO transfer window.

Screenshots:

World Premier Division - 20 teams:

World Championship Division - 24 teams:

World League 1 - 24 teams:

World League 2 - 24 teams:

World League 3 - 24 teams:

So what do I do when I've downloaded it?

Save it in: documents > sports interactive > football manager 2010 > editor data.

Then what?

Load up FM. Click on new game. Select your database (mine is 10.2.0). Click the 'change' button on the right of 'Editor Data Files'. Select 'World Super League'. (The nation should be England). Allow the game to load. Make sure the Engand box is ticked on the nations list. The drop down menu should go down to World League 8.

Where there any problems with it?

No. I holidayed for 2 seasons and no errors were seen. If anyone does find any, let me know. If anyone also has any future recommendations post it in the thread and I'll consider releasing a v.2, if they are worthwhile.

Retainable Players:

As the database is reasonably big, with a large range of players, some teams won't have a full squad when you load a default large database. My advice is to retain players from the nation of the team you want to manage. A lit of the nations that have teams in the World Super Leagues can be found here:

Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Scotland, Austria, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Czech Rep, Croatia, Switzerland, Chile, Hungary, Norway, South Korea, Poland, Paraguay, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Egypt.

Is that it?

Well, yeah. Enjoy and make sure you leave some feedback if you try it.

no transfer window? does this mean you cant buy players at all or you can buy players at any time during the game

Wow, this must have taken taken long. Bet you've been wanting to do something like this for a long time though.

It means that you can buy players whenever you like.

It took a fair while, but once you get the hang of the editor it's all very simple. I did one for FM09, so I was always going to do one for FM10. With the new editor you can make it a bit more in-depth and personalised.

With the game not being out for too long, I expect people will still be interested in the 'normal' game. But once the game has been out for a while and people want something different, then this is an option.

i see you've put teams in a division based on their reputation?

which i don't find accurate for teams like Sao Paulo, they theoretically stand no chance.

still a very good effort

Loading it will make all the nations that have teams in the Super Leagues unplyable. Some nations (Finland for example) are still playable.

But yes, you will only need to run 1 nation.

The editor has Sao Paulo's reputation in the top 20 in the game.

You'll be suprised, too. In the game I holidayed, in the first season the teams that were relegated were Valencia, Lyon, Benfica and Sevilla.

hmm well depending on what purchases i make i suppose?

i don't doubt the brazilians, i just think that european top flight teams are generally stronger due to funds etc...

especially in a game based on player statistics, Sao Paulo should theoretically be a relegation candidate.

though you never know i suppose

Well dont forget that most of those european teams buy their players from the brazilian sides. Sao Paulo in particular have world class facilities as well. And with such a high reputation, they can now attract top european players as well.

I may actually choose them myself.

Their rep is exactly the same, but it just happened that Rangers were the last team in one league and Celtic the first in the next.

Well, now they're in a league with the same reputation...and they have a large stadium as well, so (depending in part how SI and/or Nick set up finances) they could find themselves with much more money than in real life really fast.

Im playing this at the moment i picked Hoffenheim because i have a soft spot for Zuculini and Salvio theyre normally 2 of my normal buys. In my 3rd season now, got promoted the last 2 seasons and currently top of division 5. Ive had a lot of fun with this update thanks for the post.

hey, i've had a problem with loading saying there is something wrong with the rule settings, ie too many teams in one place not and not enough in another, is there anything i can do about this

also when i went on the database in my editor the divisions were devoid of teams, is this a fault at my end or with the data

An interesting choice. Given they start off so far down. I'm glad you're enjoying it, though.

It's working fine for me mate, and by the looks of it, it's working for other people. Try deleting the file and re-downloading it.

I tried this, but when i select the file in game it say its not valid because no teams exist in the leaugue. Might this be to do with me not having the patch?

Edit- I tried your suggestion and it hasnt worked

Shouldn't be to do with the patch, I don't think. I can't actually remember which patch I made the database on.

Now you've re-downloaded it, when you go into the editor and open the 'edit data', what do you see when you look through the teams squad list?
